We Will Have Our Revenge:

Laws enacted through reconciliation will be repealed by reconciliation.

Barack Obama:

I've now been in 57 states -- I think one left to go.

For the first time since the Great Depression, Americans took more aid from the government than they paid in taxes.

Weakening the Country

ObamaI was reading the new book by Mark Levin, Liberty and Tyranny, which incidentally should be required reading for all H.S. or college students in this country, and I came across this quote from George Washington which came from his fifth annual address to Congress on December 3, 1793. “There is a rank due to the United States among nations which will be withheld, if not absolutely lost, by the reputation of weakness. If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our rising prosperity, it must be known that we are at all times ready for war.” I think I read it over 2 or 3 times before moving on and just kept thinking about how appropriate and timely this quote is considering the stance of our current administration. I would say that George Washington has always been underrated as a President and policy maker but just this one quote shows the genius of the man. Over 200 years ago President Washington clearly understood that the way to gain respect in the international community was to make it known that the interests of your country came first and whenever anyone threatened to harm those interests, force would be used. This is exactly the kind of logic and policy that led to the U.S. becoming the preeminent world power.

Now contrast this to our great leader of today, President Obama, and his policy of trying to get the rest of the world to like him. Instead of showing strength to gain respect, the new policy is to turn difficult decisions over to the UN and the international community. According to Obama we are just one country in the international community and we need to act that way. We need to understand how our actions might affect what other countries think of us. So basically foreign policy decisions should be based on how popular they will make us. Here we have two rogue nations, Iran and North Korea, trying to test the waters to see what they can get away with. And so far the answer seems to be, whatever they want. Iran continues to expand their nuclear capabilities and Obama says we’ll engage them in conversation to fix this. And if that doesn’t work by the end of the year we’ll ask the UN to impose sanctions. So that shakes up the Iranians so much that they test fire some missiles. North Korea, same story. These people are laughing about this new policy as it clearly weakens the U.S. History is full of examples of how reasoning with lunatics doesn’t work. Force is the only thing they understand. Washington understood this, Obama clearly doesn’t.

Lonegan or Christie?

This Tuesday New Jersey’s Republican voters will get to pick a candidate to face off against John Corzine in the gubernatorial election. The choices are Steve Lonegan and Chris Christie.

Let’s face it, New Jerseyans are fed up with Corzine. New Jersey is a mess. The state’s debt has gone through the roof, unemployment is high and New Jersey already has the nation’s highest property taxes. There’s been an exodus of businesses from the state and if things don’t change soon it will continue to get worse.

Chris Christie is a former US Attorney whose career was built on going after corruption. Steve Lonegan is a former mayor and small business owner who won election in a town that voted nearly 65% for Obama.

The debates between Christie and Lonegan didn’t clear up anything for those of you seeking out differences between the two. In each of their ads they claim to be big tax-cutters and advocates of limited government.

Here’s the difference I see. Christie is an establishment guy. While his corruption fighting is a good thing his mindset is embedded in government and its greatness. Christie is a lawyer. Lawyers are adept at nuance and playing games with semantics. In other words Christie, regardless of what he says, will be moderate and likely to keep with the status quo.

Lonegan isn’t a very charismatic guy. Unfortunately that seems to be the main qualifier in winning elections. But Lonegan worked in the private sector. He is aware of the damaging effects of oppressive and restrictive government policies on businesses. And face it, businesses are the ones that create jobs. Private sector job growth is essential if New Jersey is going to be turning things around.

The argument against Lonegan is that he won’t be moderate enough to win in the general election. Well, if moderation means letting the state continue on a path of economic destruction, and Jersey voters decide to vote that way they deserve what they get. Why settle for another middle of the road milquetoast Republican when the state needs a giant overhaul? Besides, with Corzine’s approval rating sinking below sea level the GOP should be able to put up a corpse and win.

Running a government should be like running a business. Only one of these candidates has experience in that field. That is why Lonegan will get my vote.

Speaking of Swines

Last Tuesday, as President Obama got off the Helicopter in front of the White House, he was carrying a baby piglet under each arm.

The squared away Marine guard snapped to attention, saluted and said, “Nice pigs, sir.”

The President replied “These are not pigs…these are authentic Arkansas Razorback Hogs. I got one for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and I got one for Speaker of The House Nancy Pelosi.”

The squared away Marine again snapped to attention, saluted and said, “Excellent trade, sir.”

Still no Accountability or Transparency

obamasmoke

Five months ago the world was going to come to an end unless the Federal Government could pull off a giant scheme to make you and your hard earned money part ways. They succeeded in pulling off that scheme and named it The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. It would create jobs and stimulate the beaten down economy. Just the sound of it makes you feel as though it would be unpatriotic to oppose such an act.

Billions and billions of dollars were to be taken from you the people and were to be redirected to the government. The government would then send it to various unelected bureaucrats who would decide where your money (not any more) should be spent. Clearly, you the people were not capable of deciding where to spend your money.

You were told by the Looter-in-Chief about transparency and accountability and how you would be able to track where your dollars were going. Remember, the bill had to be passed immediately to avert economic doom and disaster. I urge you all to visit the website. Take a look at where the money is going. The results of your search will be vague with virtually no specifics. You will see nonsense like this in the Impact section:

Right now, Recovery.gov provides estimated breakdowns for where the money is headed–the share each sector of the economy is receiving–as well as economic forecasts about the impact the Recovery Act will have on your state in terms of jobs created and tax cuts received. These are estimates and forecasts.

Once the money starts to go out to build new roads, modernize schools, and create new jobs, we’ll be able to give you the details on spending. Right here on Recovery.gov, you’ll be able to see how, when, and where your taxpayer dollars are going.

I still remain curious to know how this administration gets away with “jobs created/saved.” Every month the Bureau of Labor Statistics releases a jobs report. If anyone knows where we can find details in that report about “jobs saved” please let me know. Those details don’t exist because they can’t be proven. In fact, we would have a much easier time identifying “job destroyed” but you won’t see those numbers posted on the site. In the meantime, four months into this debacle and there are no details.

The Recovery Act and its website, like the President are deceptive and fraudulent. It’s all like a magician’s illusion. But when this cloak is removed your money is gone and you’re left with the bill for the act.

Election Day Thuggery OK

20090528-220917-pic-924085510_r350x200No, I don’t mean in third world countries, I’m talking about right here in the U.S. Specifically, I’m referring to what happened in the November elections in Philadelphia. In case you never heard the story, three members of the New Black Panther Party appeared outside a Philadelphia polling place wearing military style uniforms and brandishing a police style night stick. Bartle Bull a long time civil rights activist was at the scene as a poll watcher and said,

“In my opinion, the men created an intimidating presence at the entrance to a poll,” he declared. “In all my experience in politics, in civil rights litigation and in my efforts in the 1960s to secure the right to vote in Mississippi … I have never encountered or heard of another instance in the United States where armed and uniformed men blocked the entrance to a polling location.”

Career lawyers from the Justice department have been puruing a case against these men for months, including getting an affidavit from Mr. Bull. As they were getting ready to bring their case forward, they were told by political appointee superiors to reverse course and drop it. This is an unbelievable turn of events for a country that prides itself on open free elections. During his confirmation hearings, Attorney General Eric Holder spoke highly of the career lawyers of the Justice Department stating, “If I am confirmed as attorney general, I will listen to them, respect them and make them proud of the vital goals we will pursue together”. Wow that didn’t last long. This is just another example of change for the new Obama administration. He talks a good book about open, fair government. But when you look at all of his actions to date, including this one, they look more and more like those of a dictator!

More Positive Signs (besides the teleprompter blowing over)

In recent polls conducted by McLaughlin and Associates, American voters were asked if they would prefer a Democrat congressman who would help pass Obama’s agenda or a Republican congressman who would be a check and balance to Obama.  In January, voters favored a Democrat who would pass the Obama agenda by a significant margin of 47% to 40%.  In a more recent poll in May, there was a significant shift as voters now favor a Republican congressman who would be a check and balance to Obama by a huge majority of 51% to 41%.  This is very significant as we look forward to mid-term elections which can’t come soon enough.  It tells us that the American voting public is starting to lose faith in the Great One.

In another significant poll by Quinnipiac in Pennsylvania, Arlen Sphincter’s huge lead over Pat Toomey for his Senate re-election bid has shrunk from a 20 point lead to only a 9 point lead in three short weeks.  The initial pop Sphincter got from switching to the Dark Side is waning.

Good news for the Good Guys!

Mrs. Greenspan rewrites history

kim-jong-il_madeleine-albrightDemocrat lacky, sometimes mistaken for a newsperson at MSNBC, Mrs. Alan Greenspan Andrea Mitchell made the claim that the Liar-in-Chief, Obama inherited the Korean nuclear situation from the Bush administration. (You can watch here)

Let me unconfuse Mrs. Greenspan with a little history lesson and some commentary. Back in 2000 Clinton’s Secretary of State Madeleine Albright became the first ranking US official to meet with North Korea’s little gargoyle, Kim Jong Ill. The objective of that trip was to discuss terms that would limit the gargoyles ballistic missile program.

As far as Albright was concerned it was love at first sight. Albright held hands with the pot bellied dictator and gave him an autographed Michael Jordan basketball, as the two smiled for the cameras. Albright was pleased with herself, finding a gift that Kim loved. She should have continued that aspect of career with Obama’s administration. They aren’t as skilled in gift selection for foreign heads of states.

At the end of Albright’s trip she gave Kim her number and asked him to pick up the telephone any time. That alone would be an automatic conversation killer for most males. But it wasn’t for Kim. Instead, the self-professed “internet expert” offered to exchange  email addresses with Albright. Thank god sexting wasn’t invented yet.

When Albright returned home she beamed over her successful mission. A Clinton State Department official declared that the North Korean leader was agreeable to serious restraint regarding missiles. Now remember at this time there was already a deal in place. In 1994 Clinton had an agreement with North Korea where aid was given in exchange for halting the weapons program. That move backfired in the worst possible way. North Korea used the aid to build its weapons program while millions of North Koreans died of starvation. Clinton’s carrots instead of sticks approach failed miserably.

Years later Albright would make the claim that North Korea didn’t have nukes during the Clinton administration. Maybe that’s true, but that’s when Kim’s weapons program was full steam ahead. Understandably Albright’s memory remains clouded. Kim was the first man to hold hands with her. She must relive that moment every day of her life.

So when Mitchell (Mrs. Greenspan) gets on the low ratings network, MSNBC, and rewrites history she’s being disingenuous. And one other suggestion for Andrea. Use a word other than “conundrum” when refering to the North Korea situation. We listened to your husband mutter it a thousand times while he was helping to ruin the economy in the early part of this century.

$4 Gas Again Soon?

drill

Keep an eye on the price of oil. It has nearly doubled from the low $30/barrel area only a few months ago. And it looks like it’s heading higher. With the economy desperately trying to claw its way out of a recession higher energy prices could be the catalyst to send the economy spiraling downward again.

Tensions are rising in the Middle East, with Iran destabilizing the region. Russian aggression to control the Georgian pipeline last summer also wasn’t helpful. China and India will be using more of the commodity with their economies improving. Where does that leave us versus where we stood during the last energy crisis?

The picture is bleak. For more than twenty years we’ve listened to the same tired rantings that drilling won’t solve our problems. The rhetoric about it taking ten years to bring untapped oil to the market usually gets loudest while we are in the worst part of the crisis. You will be listening to all the same sorry excuses some time soon.

The Con Artist-in-Chief is going to tell you that the next crisis isn’t his fault. He will blame it on our love of large vehicles, the last administration and our unwillingness to give up our comforts fueled by energy. He will tell you that only government can save us with windmills, solar panels and a host of other “rainbow and unicorn” ideas. What he won’t say is that we could have been working on solutions, while at the same time using oil that we drilled and refined here, had the left-wing, environmental wackos in Congress allowed us to drill for oil for the past twenty years.

The arguments linking drilling to environmental disasters is weak. With the advancement of technology oil disasters have been few and far between over the past twenty years. Besides, if we applied that same logic to disasters in our own government, like Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank, sexual intercourse would have been banned a long time ago.

The bottom line is there will be another oil shortage. Whether it’s this year or next year doesn’t really matter. Right now there is only one proven way to get in front of it, and that’s by drilling. Work on all the other solutions all you want. But let’s start drilling right now.

Big Surprise (Not)

633674798066057782-shameRoland Burris is now on the hot seat for comments he made on the Feds’ wiretap in the Blago investigation.  Now, all of a sudden, he has remembered things that he did or said that he apparently didn’t remember when he testified before an Illinois House impeachment panel prior to being appointed as a senator?  What’s the word for this again?  Oh yeah, perjury!  Another crooked socialist.  Nothing surprises me anymore.  I guess this is ok though now that Nancy Pelosi has set the standard for honesty and character in Washington.

Did anyone really think this guy was clean when he weaseled his way into the Senate?
